英特尔准备通过 Platform Firmware Runtime Update 和 Telemetry 驱动代码为 Linux 内核引入 Seamless Update 功能，即无需重启就能更新固件。Seamless Update 针对的是数据中心和企业级客户，这些客户对停机时间有着高服务水平协议（service level agreements，SLA），而更新固件通常需要重启系统使得服务下线数分钟影响到 SLA。Seamless Update 设计在更新固件过程中不需要重启。英特尔可能会在明年发布 Xeon Scalable "Sapphire Rapids"时推出 Seamless Update。
